Marshall Hatchick have been a trusted firm of solicitors since 1995, when Nicholas Marshall and Keith Hatchick formed the company in London, after many years experience with major legal firms.
Our London office is in the heart of the professional area of the West End, along the elegant and exclusive Marylebone High Street. Our office in Suffolk was opened in 1996, and is located in the bustling and historic market town of Woodbridge, within easy reach of the A12 and the beautiful Suffolk Heritage Coast.
Since 1995 we have continued to grow and expand our knowledge and expertise, with many changes to the firm.
In 2001 Michael Sparrow brought his many years of experience, from one of the most established Suffolk legal firms, to our Woodbridge office when he joined us as a partner.
Then in 2005 our merger with Josselyns, with their 150 year old reputation for a personal and high quality legal service, increased our commercial and residential property portfolio to include private client work in wills, trusts and probate.
In 2007 James Robbins joined us as a partner, bringing with him specialist knowledge in both residential and commercial property with a particular emphasis on Housing Association work. Keith Hatchick retired from the Partnership in May 2008 but remains a consultant working from our London Office. Colin Clark joined the firm as a Partner in Jan 2009, followed by Jennifer Humphreys in November 2010. In May 2012 Mike Sparrow retired from the partnership to become a full-time commercial property consultant to the firm.
As well as appointing external solicitors we also continue to grow organically, and the firm was very pleased to promote staff solicitors Christopher Cumberbatch and Luke Cain to partners in May 2015, in recognition of their long standing commitment to the firm and its clients.
May 2015 also saw Marshall Hatchick celebrate its 20th anniversary and, in the same month, the acquisition of HT Argent & Son Solicitors in Saxmundham, a firm well established in the area since the 1920’s. The experienced and friendly staff at HT Argent and Son have the same core values of providing a caring, professional and efficient service and make an excellent fit to the continued success of Marshall Hatchick Solicitors.
In September 2015 the firm expanded further by joining forces with Keane & Co. in Aldeburgh. Richard Keane had some 30 years experience in his practice and this merger enables Marshall Hatchick to provide a comprehensive service to clients in the Woodbridge, Saxmundham and Aldeburgh areas and beyond including London. The respective practices can compliment each other in various areas of expertise, strenghtened by the considerable depth of partners and assistants.
A new partner, Jane Walford, was welcomed in October 2015. Jane brings a wealth of commercial property experience with her, acting for developers, Registered Providers of social housing and her wealth of experience means she is aware of the commercial pressures that many businesses face.
In January 2016, we welcomed a newly qualified solicitor, Laura Clay-Harris to our litigation department. We said a sad farewell to Luke Cain in December 2017
Our current Partners are Nicholas Marshall, James Robbins, Colin Clark, Jennifer Humphreys, Christopher Cumberbatch, Richard Keane and Jane Walford.
